Kimberly Camp, an artist and arts educator who served as President and CEO of The Barnes Foundation, has been named a Trustee for the Haddonfield Outdoor Sculpture Trust (HOST), a nonprofit public/private educational outdoor art initiative.
“I am honored to serve such an important role in promoting the arts for Haddonfield,” said Camp. “Public Art can not only add character to a community, but it says something important about how you care for the human soul and its wealth of creativity.”
Camp began her career as a professional artist over 50 years ago. Her paintings and dolls have been shown in over 100 solo and group exhibitions, including the American Craft Museum, Smithsonian Institution, International Sculpture Center, and the University of Michigan. Workshops and residencies include the Baltimore Museum of Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Longwood Gardens, and the Smithsonian Institution. At her American Craft Council debut, she won the 2020 Award of Excellence: Art Makes Us Human, and the Gold Prize at the 51st Annual Peters Valley Craft Fair. She has been featured in Essence, Nouvel Objet, the New York Times, FiberArts, National Geographic World, the Village Voice and Smithsonian. She has served internationally as a panelist and speaker and has received numerous awards including two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, the Kellogg National Leadership Program Fellowship, Visiting Scholar for Gedia University, and the Roger L. Stevens Award for Contributions to the Arts and Culture from Carnegie Mellon University.
HOST brings traditional and contemporary works by noted sculptors and artists to the downtown district, some permanent and some rotating, including the world’s only Children’s Sculpture Zoo, and ArtWalk, with local artists exhibited Parisian-style. Several sculptures have been purchased by residents and donated to the Borough on a permanent basis. Many others are on loan or lease from the artist, and are available for purchase for private or public use. These sculptures constitute an ever-evolving outdoor gallery where they can be enjoyed by all until they find a permanent home.
