There’s Always Something Happening at the Zoo

Tuesday, April 16, at 12noon
Back in October 2022, thousands of residents and visitors were given an opportunity to cast their votes to select the next animal sculpture to be installed in Haddonfield’s Children’s Sculpture Zoo. Each vote cost $1 and the results were clear. Although fundraising is still ongoing, we are proud to announce the unveiling of our newest bronze addition to the world’s only children’s sculpture zoo.

Join the Haddonfield Outdoor Sculpture Trust and lots of kids on Tuesday April 16, at 12noon, at the Children’s Sculpture Zoo. There will be representatives from J.F. Tatem Elementary School — just down the block — and Tatem Principal Donnetta Beatty will pull the cord to unveil something truly special.

Want more clues? It’s based on a French sculpture from 1854, is muscular and energetic and is study enough to climb at 180 pounds. He/she joins the other life-size critters: sea lion, toad, bunny rabbit, giraffe, baby elephant and gorilla. Admission to the Zoo at Kings Highway and Evergreen Lane is always free!

Saturday, April 27, from 11am-3pm
Grandparents, parents and kids from throughout the region are invited to celebrate International Sculpture Day at the Children’s Sculpture Zoo in Haddonfield on Saturday, April 27, from 11am-3pm. Bring your camera!

The event will feature great family photo opportunities with the Zoo’s animals, including the newest one to be unveiled on April 16; demonstrations by nationally-renowned sculptor John Giannotti (creator of “Haddy”); drawings for jobs as “visiting curators” for Zoo animals; free children’s books on animals and art, courtesy of BookSmiles; animal face painting, balloons and backpack pins. The Zoo is located on the corner of Kings Highway East and Evergreen Lane.
