My Dog Blue depicts “King,” a Husky who accompanied Arctic explorer and African-American scientist Matthew Henson in reaching the North Pole as part of Robert Peary’s historic team in 1909. The polymyrized gypsum piece is by John Giannotti, who created Haddy the hadrosaurus sculpture located in Haddonfield’s Lantern Lane;, as well as several other Haddonfield sculptures. His sculpture of Henson with King is at Camden’s Maritime Museum.
